The addition of a GReddy intercooler is one of the best ways to safely increase horsepower in a turbocharged engine. By reducing the engine's inlet temperatures, a denser air charge will enter the engine; this can make more horsepower at the same boost level and even more power at higher boost levels. Even if there is a factory-installed intercooler, generally these stock units are not ideal even for factory boost levels. They are usually mounted in awkward locations and become very susceptible to heat saturation. Factory intercoolers generally are not ideal for increased boost levels. GReddy Intercooler Kits are specifically designed, sized and fabricated for a wide variety of turbo applications (from low - medium boost levels on converted normally aspirated vehicles, to mild - high boost-up applications on stock turbocharger set ups, to even extreme boost levels, with large turbo upgrades)
Depending on the application and usage, some turbocharged set-ups require different flow characteristics. The GReddy Spec V line of intercooler cores, with the inner "Micro Grove Tube" is designed to allow for larger cores that give good cooling with a freer flowing internal core design. This is ideal for applications with low to medium-high boost levels in factory turbocharged engines or normally aspirated engines with bolt-on turbo kits. Spec V tube and fin cores are also treated to our special "CCP" chemical polishing.
